Renaud de Vergnette founded TRIANGLE in 1981, at a time when the hi-fi market was very competitive and dominated by a number of well-established international players. The idea was simple, yet met a demand: to offer a product that was natural-sounding, cost-effective, and -- a feature that was really new for the market at that time – well-designed, with a nod to style and elegance. Ever since he was a teenager, the music-loving Renaud de Vergnette, would spend almost all of his meager earnings on acoustic speakers, only to find that none produced the quality that he was hearing in his head. Having grown tired of wasting all of his time and money chasing after the perfect speaker, he decided to take matters into his own hands and build his first prototypes. Through careful study and analysis of what was missing in existing speakers, he was able to define a line of criteria on which he would base his own loudspeaker designs. These eventually would become the intangible factors that give the brand its unique sonic identity. - clear and natural sound coupled with high dynamics and efficiency, - particular emphasis placed on the midline, the central point of the acoustic speaker, - the use of cellulose pulp diaphragm...
To the same degree that an automobile manufacturer would focus passionately on designing a proprietary engine, Vergnette quickly came to see the driver design as the main deciding factor in determining the intrinsic qualities of an acoustic enclosure. He then proceeded to assemble a team of technicians who all shared his passion and vision.
